Have 5 days in March, just want beach. Swim, snorkel, eat seafood, repeat. Not into resorts with wristbands.

Phu Quoc seems easier to reach but I keep reading it’s overbuilt now. Con Dao sounds wilder but getting there looks like a mission.

Anyone been to both? Which one would you pick for a quiet beach week.

Been to both. Con Dao is wilder and quieter, the beaches felt almost empty in March and the snorkeling was great. But getting there is a mission, we flew from HCMC and the flights are pricey and limited. Phu Quoc is easier and has better food options, just avoid the main tourist strip at Duong Dong if you want quiet. For 5 days of pure beach with no hassle, I would pick Con Dao if the flights work, Phu Quoc if they do not.

Thank you, this helps a lot. How much did you pay for the flights to Con Dao? I see only few flights per day and prices look high. Is it better to book long in advance? We travel in March too.

Replying to GRMM @GRMM We paid about 2.2 million VND return per person from Ho Chi Minh City, booked roughly a month ahead. Only Vietnam Airlines flies there and the planes are small, so the cheap seats go fast. I would book as early as you can once your dates are fixed.

Thank you Jenna. The flights to Con Dao look expensive and only small planes. Is it better to book long time before? We are flexible with dates in March.
