I’ll start off by saying I’m Viet kieu. Can I apply for the exemption on the same page as the normal e-visa page?Looking to get the 5 year as opposed to the 90 day Visa. This will be my first trip back after leaving in ’73.

My passport will be expired in feb 2027 and they inly give me 30 days visa instead of 90 days…unless I get a new passport which I don’t have the time.

It takes a couple of hours at the Embassy or Consulate. They want you to do the “urgent” one so they can charge $70 instead of $10

For the 5 year visa, you would have to go to the US Consulate / Embassy or have a travel agency apply for you. My mom got one recently thru her travel agent. As long as you have your birth certificate proving you were born in Vietnam or your parents were born in Vietnam you can apply for the 5 year visa.

Ask your relatives in Houston whether they could find a travel company called “Vietravel” locally there. My friend in Southern California said that they could do 5 years exemption for $70.

Without a Vietnamese last name, good luck!😄😆 Maybe if you put in Country born in: Vietnam 🇻🇳 They gave me the 5 years Visa because of the obvious reason.😉

Certificate of visa exemption is handled by Vietnamese embassy/consulate. If you live near one (in the US, that would be DC, NYC, SF, Houston), you can come in and apply in person. The official fee is $10. If you don’t live near one and can’t show up to apply in person, I would recommend you hire an agent to do it for you. It’s quick and easy, and they often charge $70, all included. If you try to apply via mail yourself, you will have to get your documents notarized, pay for shipping both ways, so it will come out about the same as hiring an agent.

Yes, you can apply for a 5-year visa exemption if you are able to provide the required documents and meet the eligibility criteria for this type of visa.
