Hi, first time posting here. I’ve made a booking through Airbnb for accommodation in Hanoi when I first arrive. The AirBnB host is asking me for my passport photos of all group members so that they can complete the temporary residence tax declaration procedures with relevant authorities during our stay there. My question is:Do accommodation establishments in Vietnam require passport photos to be supplied for a declaration?TIA

Yes it’s the law
Yes! normal! 😊
Normally collected on arrival if the host is there to greet you. If you’re self checking in using a key box, then isn’t unusual.
Normal thing
Yes .Even for sim cards too in Thailand. I didnt though in Vietnam for a sim.
I stayed in hotels, and Home stays and both places take a picture of your passport on arrival
That is the truth. They will send your passport picture to Police region
Yes, it’s normal.
Its not for tax. It is confirm where you are staying. Everywhere will ask and you need to provide.
They need a copy of your passport to register you with the police
