I just find out today that my vacation dates are in coincidence with Vietnam’s huge TET Holiday (Note: screaming at the top of my lung). My fault for not checking it sooner.
Previously, I’ve planned to visit all these individuals standing local Vietnamese clothing shops. Is there any area where I could visit these individual clothing boutiques still opened during TET Holiday? I’ll be there 18-21st February 2026.
Are there any of the still opened malls that have these Vietnamese clothing stores? I always think they only have international brands in the malls and I am interested with the local Vietnamese ones.
Cheers

Actually I meant lion dancing. But they look like dragons 🦁.
You’d have to ask, probably about day 4 (after Tet).It was a pretty big show, inside the mall. Some incredible high acts. Quite scary to watch.

The dragon dancing, where could I find its schedule?

It’s not capitalism it’s reality.
Many Vietnamese dont have fridges and live almost day to day. What’s more you can’t just interrupt the flow of food from field to market to table in an economy like Vietnam’s with no sophisticated cold chain. Also many small traders can’t afford to do no business for extended periods.
The big Lotte mall in Vung Tau was open on day 2 I think. Along with all the ancillary sales outlets therein. There were also entertainments like dragon dancing which was very impressive and very dangerous.
Hi MsLulu80
Thanks for the info.
What about the touristy area such as Dong Khoi, Benh Thanh and Ngui Yen Walking Streets? I heard they should still be opened but are there many local Vietnamese clothing brands there?
Hello
The later in your stay you do your shopping the more stuff will be open.
By the 20 and 21st some independent stopes will be open again. The malls will be open from 2nd or 3rd day of Tet but these probably don’t have the sort of shops you are looking for. More international than local brands.
Lolz then for once I thank the capitalism and luckily I came right the day after TET.
Hopefully someone could share any touristy area with. Clothing stores still open during these period

Many shopping malls reopen on second day after Tet. That’s called capitalism:)
