6 nights in Da Nang and Hoi An, does this seem too packed? – Vietnam Forum

We plan to stay around My Khe Beach and then near the Old Town in Hoi An. Is this doable? Any changes recommended?

Day 1

Flight lands in Da Nang at 9.30 am. Settle in, lunch. Around 2.30 pm, head to Han market (or An Hai Bac market?) to get an Ao Dai fitted. Giving two hours to browse and decide. Head to the beach before dinner.

Day 2.

Early morning at My Khe Beach, leave at 8.00 am for Trip to My Son and Tra Ly lotus field. Packed lunch. On the back, stop by Cham museum of sculpture and head back to the hotel for some rest. Free evening. Maybe go to a night market.

Day 3.

Early morning Bana Hills Golden Bridge and Alpine coaster. Planning to skip the amusement park. Return by noon, lunch in town. APEC park, pink cathedral stops. Around 4.00 pm, head to Buu Dai Son Pagoda and Ling Uhn Pagoda. Stay till dusk. Saturday, so go to Dragon bridge show.

Day 4.

Early morning Taxi to Hoi An. Marble Mountain and Non Nuoc village en route. Arrive in Hoi An by noon. Post lunch, walk around Old Town and get outfits fitted. 5.30 Hoi An Memoryland show.

Day 5.

Early Basket Boat tour. A Bang beach. Cycle through rice fields. Wood working class post lunch. Teh Dar. Lantern boat ride.

Day 6.

Lantern making class. Amble around town and collect tailored clothes. Taxi to Da Nang for late afternoon train to Hue.

There is so much to discover in Hoi An just wondering around and trying not to get lost. We found the under cover market and it’s like a rabbit warren in there. So much fun.

Hi Marc, thank you, you are right, I do want some time to just wander around the town as well, I think I only do one workshop then, and only book once I get there and see what I feel then.

I’ve read that the tailors in Hoi A can get the clothes ready within two days. Was hoping 3 days would be enough even with an extra fitting. It’s going to be a bit difficult to get the others in my group to go along with 6 nights in Hoi An. We’d be spending an extra 1.5 h every day travelling back and forth to spots more easily reached from Da Nang, I think. Still, will consider it again, thanks 🙂

6 nights between both locations is fine. It’s only packed because of the all the activities you’ve crammed into each day.

In Hoi An, I’d cut some of the touristy stuff like lantern making, round boat rides, wood working class. Even Marble Mountain on the way from Danang isnt that special. The bike ride is nice though. Do that. The beach in Hoi An is pretty meh. Da Nang beaches much nicer.

The best thing about Hoi An is just wondering the town and youve left little time for that. Dont feel like you’re missing out or being unproductive by leaving yourself some free time. Its actually the opposite. You’ll miss the best of Hoi An by not having free time.

If you want to get stuff tailored another option is to stay in Hoi An for 6 nights and just visit Da Nang as a day trip. Everything you want to do from Da Nang you can also do from Hoi An. Saves time changing hotels and gives you more buffer for tailoring. 3 days is definately possible but a bit tight. Dont want to spend all your time in Hoi An going back and forth to the tailor.

Yep, different people have different travel styles. But, if you solicit opinions, that is what you will get.

Have to admit there was an extremely detailed daily itinerary on the Sri Lankan TA forum last week where they had even included the times of their daily meals 🙂

The only thing missing was what time they were going to bed each night 🙂

Some people like to plan their trips intensively as that what they like to do

    “Packed lunch.”

    Sounds disappointing.

    😂

Slow your roll and find a good restaurant with cold drinks.

    😂

Hi Scott, thank you for your input. I can understand you have a different planning and travelling style. I personally like to know what I’d be doing when and how much time it would require. Not having an itinerary, and as a result, missing out on easily doable experiences or planning too much together is what would stress me.

Your ‘day itineraries’ just exhaust me.

I’d have a rough idea of what you want to see and do, each day, and then just play it out as you go.

The ‘sights’, in my opinion, are far more interesting than (most of) the ‘sites’ you’ll come across.
