If anyone else is doing research like we were about trying to get to Nam Cát Tiên National Park, here is update details of this journey that we have just embarked on through public transport –
We arrived at NGA TU GA bus station by Grab which cost 200k from the walking street and takes around an hour depending on traffic (address: 720 1A route, ward Thanh Loc, 12 District, Ho Chi Minh City) at around 10.30am and the bus left shortly after. If you speak to the security guard he will point you to the correct bus, you buy the ticket on the bus. Because of this we’re unsure of the timetable of this route.
We then changed bus just after pulling off the main road and onto the road that leads to Nam Cat Tien. They dropped us off very close to our hotel (just show them a map and they will sort it but be aware of the language barrier).
It cost us 260k for 2 people (130k per person).
Hope this helps the next person out to enjoy some eco tourism!

It is now easier to get to Cat Tien from HCMC and I assume, Dalat. Our hotel, Green Hope Lodge, advised us that Futa now provide a shuttle service from the Phuong Lam office. I struggled to find out about this online, so waited until we were in HCMC. We went into a Futa office in district 1, booked the tickets and showed the assistant the message from the hotel. Everything worked well. We turned up at the D1 office at the allotted time. Was put on a shuttle bus to the bus station. Transferred to a sleeper style bus. Just to be sure I showed the bus assistant the message from the hotel when he asked where we going. He warned us when we were approaching our stop. Once we stopped he pointed out the office on the other side of the road. We only had to wait a few minutes for the shuttle to the hotel. Really good service which only took about 4 hours including a 20 minute stop at the services.
Thank you for the information ‘whomeg’. May I ask how long the complete journey took you from hcmc bus station to your hotel and do you have a good recommendation for a hotel? I am planning on going to Cat Tien on my own, very independent and very flexible with how I travel. Here is my preliminary itinerary:
Fly into SGN 9am @ Feb 3, get a private car from Green Bamboo Lodge, Cat Tien @ $80/one way (happy to share if anyone else heading there) .
Stay at Green Bamboo Lodge, do my own birdings, rent a bicycle and if I need to hire a local guide, I will. Birding is my main focus. I have a week. The rest is open for now.
thank you.
We are due to get the bus back to Ho Chi Minh City tomorrow, the schedule for the bus from Nam Cat Tien to Ho Chi Minh city is 8am, 9am, 10am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm. It cost us 150k per person. Anyone looking at going on to De Lat, there is only one bus as day that leaves at 6.20am and costs 250k per person. You can get information/buy tickets for the buses at the national park ticket desk. Hope this helps! Cat Tien national park is amazing!!
If you can check the schedule on the way back too I’d be really grateful.
I spent hours on looking for that, thank you so much! Hope someone can upload the schedule.
