Hello there. I’m planning a trip to Da Nang, Hoi An, and Hue scheduled for mid-March. The duration I have allotted is 6 days and 5 nights.
Below is my proposed schedule. Your insights on whether this arrangement is practical, suggestions for optimization, or any additional places to consider would be highly valued.

Is an overnight stay in Hoi An sensible, especially since I want to take part in activities like making lanterns and riding the basket boats?

To stay a night in Hue, would it mean to try to plan the trip ourselves, rather than follow a tour? I don’t think there are 2d1n tours to Hue from Da Nang? If I were to make a trip ourselves, would the best way to “rent” a car + driver?
Easy to arrange thru your accommodations in Da Nang, Hoi An or Hue.

One night doesn’t make sense, but certainly is doable. I would just stay in Da Nang or Hoi An, not both.
2. Is a day trip to Hue too rushed?
Yes. Just because you can travel there in a day and back, doesn’t make it a “day trip”. You will have limited time once in Hue. An overnight would be recommended.
3. Did I fit in Marble Mountains and Monkey Mountains at the right times?
Marble mountains you can see at any time between Hoi An or Da Nang. I would tie Monkey Mountain in with your potential trip to Hue, or with Ba Na. Again, it’s close enough, that you could visit at any time you wish.
4. Is it ok to take taxi to Marble Mountain, then to Hoi An, to My Son Santuary, and back to Da Nang?
Yes, I would book a driver for the full day. You can do this through your accommodation, or use a cab beforehand, and ask them what a flat rate for the day might be.

I agree with TheFiveCent Dime on whether to stay in one place. We stayed in Da Nang and made a couple of trips to Hoi An. It is a quick and inexpensive trip with taxi or grab. We did a one day trip to Hue and it was exhausting. It is a long drive to get there and we then rushed from one site to another and by 4pm were so exhausted that we just went back to Da Nang. I think Hue deserves at least a one night stay to be able to enjoy the area fully.
You could bus/ train/ easy rider/ private driver to get to Hue, then use a combination of walking/ cycling/boat/ easy rider/ private car or tour to explore once you are in Hue. You will need transportation to visit the tombs or the beach, but there is plenty to be explored on your own two feet closer to the centre of the city. You don’t need a multi day “tour” (or any tour if you don’t want one)
Day 4, you can add the Lady Buddha to save $um money if you are planing to go with a private car to Hoi An.
Day 5, My Son Sanctuary doesn’t take a long day, you can add hot spring to enjoy on your way back. A private car for the whole trip is 1 million-ish dong a good deal.
Then you will have the Day 6 morning to spend time in local area, Con Market, Han Market, etc…
