Ban Gioc Waterfall Excursions for Individuals Traveling Alone?

Hello to all you wonderful travelers,

I am an independent traveler from the US currently planning my November trip to Vietnam—I’m hitting a wall while searching for a 3-day, 2-night journey to Ban Gioc Waterfalls/Cao Bang. It seems that most of the trips I find are exclusively private tours—or, at best, they won’t accept single bookings unless I pay an exorbitant “private tour for one” fee. I truly feel there must be multi-day group tours available for single travelers—am I incorrect in assuming this?

Feeling slightly disheartened. I’ve already messaged Mr. Linh’s tour operator and am awaiting their reply.

Along the same lines—any suggestions for group tours in Northern Vietnam (which permit solo bookings) would be extremely welcome and certainly explored!

Eagerly awaiting the community’s collective knowledge,

Jessica

Hopefully I have attached a link to a review of Lan’s honestly in Cao Bang city. This is a different homestay to the one Michael has recommended. I have only just posted a review even though we stayed there in October 2024. TBH I could not find the TA entry for the homestay at the time. Her WhatsApp number is +84901535858.

We did look at group tours from Hanoi, but they included a night in a homestay by the lake with a shared bathroom which we did not want. I am not sure if Lan organizes group tours, but I seem to remember her price for a personal tour was a lot cheaper than the ones offered by agencies in Hanoi.

Hope you manage to get to Ban Good one way or another and have a great time.

    Hello Jessica,

    You don’t need a tour.

Ban Gioc is super easy and inexpensive to DIY.

You can get there by public bus.

Stay with Lan at her homestay.

    On Gmaps as:

“Lan’s Homestay (Thác Bản Giốc) Trùng Khánh”

    Easy 😊
