I am aware of the divided opinions regarding the WPT, yet I have incorporated it into a tour package for a group of women I’m leading in Hanoi. Is there a specific theatre that stands out for being slightly different or perhaps more premium than the others?

Sadly the Lune show closed. I looked that up first. There are actually two in Hanoi. The Lotus Theater (Bong Sen) and the Thang Long. I was hoping to get an opinion if there’s anything different or nicer between the two. Thanks!
We enjoyed our visit to Lotus Water Puppet Theatre back in September.
Got our tickets the day before (around 2:30pm) for the 6:30pm show and scored front row seats in the Centre for 150K VND each person.
The schedule for the week had at least one show at 5:15 everyday.
Awesome performance. It’s really a must do in my opinion.
Had a really informative display board in English on the right (and I think French on the left) describing each story/scene.

Thanks, that’s so helpful.
The WPT show is interesting and can be enjoyed by adults as well as children. In Hanoi I think there is just the main place by the lake.
Several shows a day.
Good to hire the audio headphones so you hear what the words mean in English, and that makes it more interesting.
If you want to avoid people in front of you holding phones up to film, sit in the front row!
You can book tickets from the theatre in Hanoi, and usually can get seats on the day. If you want a particular time, get them as soon as you arrive in Hanoi. They only take payment in cash.
No need to get them through an agency who charge more.
It is a good insight into traditional Vietnamese puppets, and 45 mins is a good length.
I must admit I did fall asleep for some of it as the chairs were comfy and I’d been doing a lot of walking!
I also thoroughly recommend the Lune shows if you are in Hoi An or HCM.
I would recommend the original water puppet show at Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre but it will be busy from 4.10 to 5.20pm. So the later show is less busy.
I would recommend 200k VND ticket for a seat which is closer to the stage

Great, thank you.
Water Puppet Show can be interesting for kids and for those who love something original Vietnamsese Stuffs. However, it could be boring for someone because it lasts 45 minutes-1 hour. So, let try it.
For the show from lune production, unfortunately it’s not available anymore in Hanoi after Covid-19. Hope it helps.
