Hello Everyone,
We will be flying to Vietnam shortly, and we’re encountering a specific issue concerning the terminal change required in HCMC.
We arrive from Delhi on VN, landing at HCMC Terminal 2 at 05:50.
Subsequently, we have a connecting VN flight to Phu Quoc departing from Terminal 3 at 08:10 (leaving us with a 2-hour 20-minute layover).
I booked the Phu Quoc ticket, and this connection itinerary was offered directly through the Vietnam Airlines website.
My understanding is that we must first complete immigration, then collect our checked bags in HCMC, and finally check in again for the Phu Quoc flight at the different terminal.
Is this entire process realistically achievable within 2 hours and 20 minutes? I have frequently read that the immigration process at HCMC can be extremely lengthy.
Also, is it straightforward to find a taxi or shuttle between these two terminals?

how did it work out ? I have same flight in few months. Did you cross immigration and got a visa since phu quoc is visa exempt?
See post #3.
I’ve got 4.5 hours too, and I’m not the least bit worried.
Can someone suggest how much time does it take to reach Terminal 3 from Terminal 2. Would a layover of 4.5 hours be enough?
Can u tell your experience regarding changing terminal, we have same flight next month
I have the same flight in first week of august,
How was your experience in switching the terminals
“I booked the Phu Quoc ticket, and this connection itinerary was offered directly through the Vietnam Airlines website.”
So it was booked on two tickets?
If so, cross your fingers and toes that first of all your international flight is on time.
Then immigration isn’t too busy.
That your bags appear in a timely manner.
And you can reach the other terminal while check in is still open.
If, on the other hand, it was in fact all booked on one ticket, then it won’t be your problem should it all go wrong.
VA will deal with the issue.

Thanks Scott
What I meant is I booked the flight to Phu Quoc from Delhi on VN, and this was a stop over flight with a 2 hrs 20 mins stop in HCMC. So just booked one ticket, not 2 separate sectors
Assuming my fingers and toes are adequately crossed, could you please share your insight into how far are the 2 terminals? I read that they are like 200-300 meters, but we will need a cab I suppose since there will be luggage and old parents along
The other obvious choice is Fast Track, though quite expensive

The new terminal opened after we were last there, however there is a bus between the two.
Takes 10 minutes, apparently.
I can only speculate on how it will all work, but my suspicion is that VA staff will help you make your connection.

No worries, but sorry l couldn’t really help.
Would love to hear how it all pans out, so it would be much appreciated, especially by future travellers, if you could return to the forum and let us know how it all works out.
Regards,
Scott
