We are considering a 2-day, 1-night cruise for March, choosing between Ambassador, which sails Ha Long Bay, and Mon Cherie, which focuses on Lan Ha Bay.

We would appreciate feedback on three main points:

  1. The merits of a Ha Long versus a Lan Ha Bay itinerary.

  2. Experiences with the Ambassador versus the Mon Cherie cruise company.

  3. Whether cabin location (first deck vs. second deck) significantly impacts the experience on either vessel.

Any guidance for first-time visitors—a couple in their late sixties—would be highly valuable.

    As mentioned; Lan Ha Bay is less crowded with boats and people than Ha Long Bay. Both are very scenic. Halong Bay is just more highly advertised.
