This isn’t just another forum or a messy Facebook group. This is a Curated Space where travelers, expats, and locals come together to share the truth about Vietnam.

We want to keep this place helpful, inspiring, and free of spam. To make sure everyone has a good time, here are a few simple rules. Think of them less as laws, and more like “Coffee Shop Etiquette”.

THE 3 GOLDEN RULES

  1. Be Genuine: Share real stories, not just links. We want to hear about your bad sleeper bus experience, your favorite coffee spot, and your questions.
  2. Be Specific: Don’t just ask “Is Vietnam nice?”. Ask “Where can I find the best egg coffee near Hoan Kiem Lake?”. Better questions get better answers.
  3. Be Nice: Disagreement is fine; disrespect is not. We are a global community, so be kind to newbies and respectful of different cultures.

THE DO’s & DON’Ts

✅ DO:

  • Write like a human: We love detailed reviews and trip reports. If you found a hidden gem, tell us why it was special.
  • Help others out: If you see a question you know the answer to, jump in! Good karma comes back to you.
  • Use photos: A blurry photo of a menu or a sunset is worth 1000 words. We love seeing what you saw.

❌ DON’T:

  • Self-Promote / Spam: Do not just drop a link to your blog or YouTube channel and leave. That’s spam. If you have a relevant link, you can share it, but only if you also write a full, helpful answer right here in the comment box.
  • Be Lazy: Posts like “Help me plan my 10-day trip” without any context (budget, interests) will likely be ignored. Show us you’ve done a little homework first!
  • Share Private Info: Don’t post phone numbers or addresses publicly. Keep it safe.

IMPORTANT: HOW OUR “INDEXING” WORKS

To keep VietAdvisor the highest quality travel resource on the web, we do things differently than Reddit or TripAdvisor.

By default, all new posts are visible to the community, BUT hidden from Google (Noindex).

Why? Because we don’t want to clutter the internet with short questions or duplicate info.

HOW TO GET YOUR POST “INDEXED” (Found on Google):
We want your amazing stories to be seen by the world! Our team manually reviews posts every week. We will switch your post to “Index” (Searchable on Google) if:

  1. It’s a great story: A detailed trip report, a unique itinerary, or a “lesson learned.”
  2. It solves a problem: You provided such a good answer that future travelers need to see it.
  3. It has original photos: Visuals matter.

🚀 The Reward: If your post gets Indexed, we will send you an email notification! This means your content is now helping thousands of travelers globally. You are officially a Top Contributor.

A NOTE ON SAFETY & RESPECT

We have Zero Tolerance for:

  • Hate speech, racism, or politics.
  • Scams, fake reviews, or bot accounts.
  • Personal attacks.

If you act like a jerk, we will show you the door.
If you see something bad, hit the Report button. Don’t fight back; let us handle the trash.
